Submission – The Sexy Librarian’s Big Book of Erotica

I realize that submitting a trans/cis lesbian story to a hetero-targetted anthology is a long-shot to say the least, but I wanted to give it a try.

I sent “Wolf and Scarlet” to The Sexy Librarian’s Big Book of Erotica.

For my next trick (I hope), I’ll be reworking “Sweet Jane” (editing out the first chunk of text, which is kind of slow, I think) and submitting it as a Fun Romp to something along the lines of Best Lesbian Erotica 2015.

Wish me luck! πŸ˜€

Glitter and Mayhem! I’m… Not In It.

Boo. 😦
I was really pleased with that one, too.

On the plus side, that was probably the fastest turn-around I’ve had on a story, well, ever. So bonus? At least I wasn’t waiting for months and months and months, right?

Cheers,
A.

Charity Anthology! I’m In It!

So, late in 2012, I submitted a manuscript to a charity smut anthology benefitting the Toronto Gay & Lesbian Archives. My piece got accepted.
My piece got accepted!!!

I am, clearly, very chuffed about this. I’m really proud of my story (Leather Woo), and really glad that it made it into the anthology, and – not to put too fine a point on it – really glad that the editor is the kind of dyke who actively publishes dyke porn that features trans women (or, well, trans woman in this case).

Another part of me is going “Oh, thank goodness! I’d have felt really awful if I wasn’t even good enough for the unpaid charity market…” Which… is probably not fair of me. To a lot of people. Myself included.

None the less. Hah! I have smut! And it’s getting published! In an actual printed book after being peer-reviewed!

So there. πŸ˜€

Hyacinth Noir Imbolc Edition – I’m In It!

Hey!

So a while back, I submitted a piece to Hyacinth Noir online journal of queer pagan literature. And it was accepted! πŸ˜€

Snow Drops re-tells (part of) “The Snow Queen” through the lens of butch-femme relationships and femme (in)visibility.

I have a sneaky plan to tell other pieces of this fairytale through the same lens, with the end goal being a new chapbook.

Whee! πŸ˜€

TTFN,
A.

Hyacinth Noir – I’ve Submitted Something To It!

So, as is typically the case, I’ve spent a month-and-a-half Not Writing only to write multiple pieces all in one go, followed by a spate of submissions to various places.

Having tried (and failed) to re-tell “The Snow Queen” as a piece erotic dyke fiction, I finally managed to do it as a (not-actually-erotic) piece of poetry. I’m really pleased with it.

An excerpt (minus the formatting):

~*~

Gerda girds her loins
knowing she can take Kay back
or leave her
in that pristine winter palace
Knowing that there’s more at stake
than one long-healed heart
[…]
Now she walks with her
head high
hips swinging
Now she sashays up the winter-bound drive
snow melting under her daisy-print boots
lips as red as summer
sangria and roses

~*~

I’ve submitted the full piece to a queer-pagan magazine out of the UK that is looking for submissions for their Imbolg issue. Here’s hoping! πŸ™‚
